In planning for close to three years, drainage and earthworks commenced 19th June 2007. Including a massive drainage retention system clearing and leveling the site has taken two months. The building, designed and constructed by Safety Steel Structures in Dandenong is being built in two stages. Footings for stage one were dug and poured on 30th August, using some 50 m3 of concrete.

Steel work was delivered on the 10th of September and the columns were erected the following day. The 12th of September saw the assembling of roof trusses which were then stood up and bolted into place at ground level. The roof is to be built on the ground and then lifted into place via block and tackles pre installed on top of the columns, with the use of electric motors, once all insulation and roof sheets have been installed, at ground level. Quite an amazing system which makes the building process much simpler and much safer for the workers on site. The roof was winched into place on the 26th September.Quite an amazing sight which took all of 20 minutes to happen.

Concrete wall panels arrived and were craned into place on Monday 1st of October. The footings have also been dug and poured ready for the next stage to commence.

Early November saw the steel work up, roof built and lifted into place and concrete panels into position within days. With the shell now complete the building is really taking shape now although there is still lots of services to run inside before the concretre floor will be poured early December and have the building locked up by Christmas.

Car parks and driveway concrete will commence early January along with shade sails and two huge underground water tanks for the nursery. New offices and counters will also follow and then the massive job of installing shelving and racking for stock to arrive and be set up.

We are hoping to be finished construction and all things going well up and trading by March or April 2008.
